Sauk County, WI is Hiring a Public Health Director Near Baraboo, WI

We are searching for the right candidate to positively lead the Public Health Department by showcasing strong knowledge in operations that meet public health service requirements.
Essential Duties
- Provide immediate needs and long-range planning for adolescent health, cardiovascular disease risk reduction, chronic disease surveillance, communicable disease, day care health, disaster preparedness, environmental health, environmental human health hazards, home health care programs, immunization clinics, newborn home visit, prenatal care, public health nuisance, school health, well child clinic, and Women Infants and Children and Nurse Family Partnership and prevention programs.
- Provides public health expertise and leadership to the Department.
- Assures that the delivery of public health services is evidence-based and/or best practices and build the scientific basis of public health. Draft and oversee all department policy and program goals and prepare and/or approve department policy and procedure manuals.
- Collaborates in the development of and contributes to individual, team, and departmental quality improvement, performance management and evaluation activities.
- Interview, train, direct, advise, monitor, evaluate, promote, and discipline department employees, and approve payroll and leave time.
- Assist with drafting and implementing departmental training and in-service programs.
- Prepare and monitor annual department operating budget.
- Monitor grant application processes.
- Review and monitor financial reporting procedures for compliance with county, state, and federal requirements.
- Act as County Health Officer with responsibility for communicable disease control and environmental health; direct communicable disease control measures; monitor communicable disease outbreaks; direct and monitor prevention measures and symptom recognition education; direct human health hazard prevention, detection, and cleanup activities.
- Plan and direct department outreach efforts; interpret department service functions to public and legislators through news releases, public appearances, person-to-person, and media outlets.
- Maintain programs and documentation to assure continued Health Department and National Accreditation status.
- Act as Health Department Public Information Officer (PIO) in a public health emergency.
- Coordinate partner participation in Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan.
- Assess community health care needs through health statistical review.
- Perform oversight of Public Health preparedness program and participate in local, regional, table - top and full-scale exercises for emergency preparedness.
- Review drafts of annual department report, health programs news releases, newsletter editorial material, pamphlets, memos, face book and twitter account and Website etc.
- Perform coordination and over site of on -going departmental Strategic Planning, Performance Management and Quality Improvement.
- Participate at local level in coordinated functional group activities and in county interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Assesses organizational environment, needs, assets, resources, and opportunities; develops new organizational structures utilizing knowledge of organizational learning, behavior, and culture.
- Identifies and interprets emerging trends in public health and provides information, analysis, and interpretation to stakeholders and community partners and other duties as assigned.

Required Working Hours
Minimum Training and Education
Required:
Master’s degree in Public Health Administration or another related field with
3 years of public health program administration and supervision experience.
or
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Environmental Health, or another related field with at least 5 years of Public Health program administration AND 16 graduate semester credits towards a Master’s degree in Public Health Administration or another related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
Wisconsin State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
Preferred:
5 years of public health program administration and supervision experience
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
