Position Overview: Cooperative Middle School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced English Language Arts (ELA) Coach to join our dedicated team of educators. The ELA Coach will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission of academic excellence by providing expert guidance and support to our ELA faculty. This individual will collaborate closely with teachers to enhance instructional practices, align curriculum with New Hampshire College and Career Readiness ELA standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the ELA department.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing support and professional development to ELA teachers to enhance their instructional practices and pedagogical approaches.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design and implement engaging and rigorous ELA curriculum that aligns with New Hampshire College and Career Readiness ELA standards.
  • Lead and/or participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and facilitate collaborative discussions to promote best practices in ELA instruction.
  • Conduct non-evaluative classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers to support their professional growth and development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners within the ELA classroom.
  • Stay abreast of current research and best practices in ELA instruction and share relevant resources with faculty.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to new ELA teachers, providing guidance and support as they acclimate to our school community.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and other instructional coaches to ensure coherence and alignment across all content areas.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of success in ELA instruction.
  • Expert knowledge of New Hampshire College and Career Readiness ELA curriculum standards.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build consensus and bring people together around common goals.
  • Highly personable and approachable demeanor, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor teachers to improve their instructional practices.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and equity within the school community.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning communities (PLCs) and leading professional development sessions.
  • Familiarity with instructional coaching frameworks and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • A passion for middle level education and commitment to fostering a love of reading in all stdents.
Qualifications Profile
  • NH State Certification as a Middle Level ELA teacher.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education
  • Masters Degree
ExperienceSuccessful prior counseling experience, preferrably at the middle school level.
