As a Software Developer, you will:

  • Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions on the SAS Access team.
  • Meet established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.
  • Solve problems independently and seek guidance/collaboration when needed.
  • Actively involve other project stakeholders to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.
  • Participate in project scoping and scheduling: tracking progress of individual tasks and alerting stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task.
  • Ensure quality through functional, unit and performance testing, working closely with testing by providing feedback on the test plan and communicate when updates to the plan should be made to cover code changes related to enhancements, redesigns and/or bug fixes.
  • Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.
  • Collaborate with technical writers to author appropriate level of design and technical documentation that satisfies both internal and external consumers.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field.
  • 5 years of C software development/programming experience is required. 
  • Experience and understanding of the performance implications and security concerns of working with very large datasets for major institutions.
  • Experience working with and modernizing complex legacy code.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • An understanding of how Agile SDLC practices enable a successful team.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SQL or another database language
  • Understanding of the performance implications and security concerns of working with very large datasets for major institutions
  • Experience with Teradata is a plus, but any large DB technology is acceptable
  • Experience working with and modernizing complex legacy code
  • Experience with containerization and cloud provider technologies
