Sartori Cheese Brand is Hiring a Converting Operations Supervisor: 2nd Shift Weekends Near Plymouth, WI

SUMMARY

The Converting Operations Supervisor will be responsible for leading the shift to ensure personal safety; food safety and quality; and productivity meet expectations. The Converting Operations Supervisor leads collaboration efforts with the Supervisory team to ensure consistency across shifts among plant floor leaders and plant floor leader development efforts. Additionally, The Converting Operations Supervisor is the main point of contact for the planning team and new product commercialization. This position will also be responsible for implementing continuous improvement initiatives which will result in lower costs and optimize manufacturing processes and equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Ensures personal and food safety, and quality goals and expectations are met by directing work activities of Team Leads who ensure safety policies and procedures are followed. 
  • Ensures productivity goals and expectations are met by directing work activities of Team Leads. 
  • Ensures standardized work is followed by team members. 
  • Develops and implements continuous improvements for team member safety, product quality, plant efficiencies and operational costs. 
  • Leads and develops direct reports on the shift. 
  • Leads the implementation of safety, quality and productivity standards and activities through the supervisory team in order to deliver expected results. 
  • Collaborates cross functionally on the commercialization of new products and manufacturing processes. 
  • Collaborates with the planning team on schedule optimization, analyzing manufacturing capacity constraints. 
  • Collaborates with Converting Manager on optimizing the production schedule and process. 
  • Conducts and leads customer visits and tours along with the Converting Manager. 
  • Collaborates with the Manufacturing Quality team on regulatory and customer audits. 
  • Oversees efforts and activities with the converting team on supply chain, material handling and inventory processes and improvements.
  • Works with Maintenance Manager and Production Supervisors to establish expectations and deliver reduction in unplanned downtime. 
  • Resolves problems and challenges through observation, procedural change, coaching, training, work instructions and/or inspection. 
  • Communicates changes in company policies, manufacturing procedures or any other operational related processes with team members on the shift. 
  • Complies with all company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies. 
  • Immediately reports any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action. 
  • In conjunction with Converting Manager, supports off hour calls from the manufacturing plant to answer questions or troubleshoot issues. 
  • Backup Provision: In the absence of the Converting Operations Supervisor, the Converting Manager will fulfill the food safety responsibilities of the Converting Operations Supervisor. 

DIRECT REPORTS 

Directly coordinates and supervises all Team Members in the Converting Department on their shift. 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma, required. Associates of Arts Degree (A.A.) in supervisory management or another related field, preferred. Associate degree must be completed within established timeline after hire. 

A minimum of 3 years related experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment or as a supervisor in food manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Converting experience is highly desired. 

This is a weekend 2nd shift schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 6:00 pm - 6:00am

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The Team Member is occasionally exposed to cold working conditions and acid or caustic cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with motorized pallet truck, manual pallet lifts, stretch wrap machine, hand knives, hand tools, calculator, tape machines, printers, data collection device, Robotic palletizer and metal detection equipment. Common software used includes: JDEdwards, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. 

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Personal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety glasses, rubber or latex gloves and hearing protection.
