The Patient Intake Coordinator plays a pivotal role at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) and contributes to the delivery of high-quality patient care and overall operational excellence by serving as a liaison between various departments, staff, and physician offices to ensure a smooth and efficient intake of patients utilizing high-level critical thinking skills, organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective communication skills to gather and verify crucial information for patients seeking admission, transfer, or surgical services, prioritize and appropriately assign patients based on patient care needs, isolation protocols, unit-based admission criteria, availability of necessary unit resources and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:- Require three (3) to five (5) years of recent administrative experience (prior hospital experience preferred, i.e., unit secretary, monitor technician, scheduling coordinator or call center environment).
- Require an associate degree in related field, bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant years of experience can be considered on a year-for-year basis, or current enrollment in an accredited degree program can be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
- Prefer proficiency in basic typing and data entry skills.
- Prefer demonstrated expert customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Prefer strong organizational skills and ability to complete tasks.
- Prefer strong communication skills for interactions with physicians, office staff, and interdepartmental areas.
