Job Overview:
SARAH Tuxis is currently seeking to hire (2) part time DSP positions both located in Guilford, CT. The positions are 1:1 (one-to-one) in an IHS setting (In Home Support).
Positions available: 1 ) Part Time/18 hours, Tuesday through Friday 3:00pm-7:30pm
2 ) Part Time/12 hours, Monday, Wednesday, Friday 3:00pm-7:00pm
Individual 1 and 2 (both adult/female) are very independent and active. Both are seeking a responsible and enthusiastic staff person to facilitate their continued community engagement (going to the library, community center, dining, or simply walking around town); as well as participate alongside them in various scheduled recreational activities. In addition, their staff person would provide companionship and guidance in maintaining or achieving skill sets such as basic completion of household chores, cooking meals, making financial transactions, and taking appropriate measures to ensure health and safety. Candidates should be comfortable working and participating in public/group settings. This position requires utilizing your personal vehicle to safely transport her to-and-from each destination (mileage reimbursement provided at 0.55cents per/mile).
Responsibilities:
-Adhere to SARAH Tuxis' Policy & Procedures; timely completion of all person-specific and agency trainings certification(s)
- Assist with daily activities and ensure safety of the individual, their environment, and overall well-being
- Promote greater independence by modeling and building on skill sets
- Attend and encourage continued participation in social and recreational activities
- Complete all required documentation prior to the end of a shift
- Ability to drive and transport the individual to appointments or activities is required-
Experience:
- Working with adults with Intellectual and/or Developmental disabilities is preferred
- Previous experience in companionship, PCA, CNA is preferred but not required
- Experience with electronic documentation platforms (Therap) is a plus

- Ability to self-motivate and exercise good judgement
