- High school education.
- Must be Med Tech certified.
- Ensures a minimum of 12 hours of annual training with an additional 6 hours of dementia training, plus required Medicine and Administration training once every 2 years.
- Knows and follows Medication Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Administers medications as prescribed in accordance to Physician orders and good nursing principles and practices, as reviewed in medication Policy and Procedure manual.
- Med passes during interim periods before and after meals.
- Reordering, signing meds in from pharmacies, stocking received meds, taking inventory on expiration dates.
- Blood glucose monitoring and taking vital signs.
- Administering eye drops, nose sprays, inhalers, breathing treatments, and administers with privacy.
- Counting narcotics at the beginning and end of shift in conjunction with oncoming shift.
- Reading and comprehending MARS and TARS.
- All essential duties listed on PCA job description.
- Encourages diversional activities to confused or combative residents; provides support and/or companionship.
- Prepare and assist residents for therapy appointments, activities, doctor’s appointments, family outings, etc.
- Secure and stock any resident supplies needed with cost considerations.
- Attends mandatory in-services and monthly meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
