SAP is Hiring a Director of Core Content Development Near Bellevue, WA

We help the world run better

At SAP, we enable you to bring out your best. Our company culture is focused on collaboration and a shared passion to help the world run better. How? We focus every day on building the foundation for tomorrow and creating a workplace that embraces differences, values flexibility, and is aligned to our purpose-driven and future-focused work. We offer a highly collaborative, caring team environment with a strong focus on learning and development, recognition for your individual contributions, and a variety of benefit options for you to choose from.

The Customer Experiences organization in Corporate Marketing is looking for a Director of Core Content Development to lead a team of writers and editors, developing digital content across the entire customer journey, from awareness and perception to try, buy, adoption, and consumption.

Our team believes in connecting with customers at scale, supporting them at each stage of the customer journey, from early awareness and consideration, through onboarding and post purchase engagement. You will be in the middle of it all, executing against content strategies that are rooted in fact-based customer journeys, helping to write compelling content that delivers what customers need to make their purchasing decisions.

As the Director of Core Content Development, you will help build and nurture a growing team of writers and editors, relying on both your functional expertise and your leadership excellence to build close relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders. We write, re-write, and edit core content for digital experiences, including web, email, and other digital assets. You’ll work closely with the Content Strategy and SEO teams to help translate strategies into core digital content. You will work with channel teams to build the agile processes required to deliver great content at massive scale. You’ll also work closely with other content teams and the Brand team to help ensure that in an environment where we uphold content democratization, we’re also upholding customer-centricity and quality over quantity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of writers and editors to delivery quality content with an exceptionally high bar and at exceptional scale.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment where everyone is empowered to do their best work and where professional growth and development are encouraged.
  • Writing. And editing. You are a hands-on writer and should be prepared to roll up your sleeves and write. You can write production-ready content without significant editing. You relentlessly cut through the jargon and write like a human, not a robot. You’re also an advocate for style, but recognize when a guideline is a guideline and not a rule.
  • More writing, across a breadth of content types. From headlines that pop, subject lines that grab attention, web copy that inspires action, to SEO articles and e-books that educate—you can go from short form to long form and everything in between with ease.
  • Helping develop the content development processes that enable the team to create top-notch copy in a fast-paced environment. Moreso, our content development processes don’t just work for us, but they work for everyone that engages with our team.
  • Transcend the day-to-day. Work across content functions—strategy, SEO, operations, governance—and help break down silos and be a key change leader to create a content center of gravity for SAP.
  • Customer advocacy. Relentlessly champion the customer and the experiences they have with the content you create—how they find it, how they consume it, how they use it to make decisions.
  • Using data and market insights for decision making including content optimization and new concept development. All of your copy decisions should be rooted in both quantitative and qualitative date—and you know when to use which.
  • Understanding of the generative AI landscape and identifying opportunities to use AI in the content production disciplines to unlock breakthrough scale.

Basic qualifications:

  • 7 years of writing experience and demonstrated track record driving business impact through content.
  • 7 years of digital marketing experience and well-versed in best practices, including familiarity with customer journey mapping.
  • Strong customer centric mindset and demonstrated ability to put the customer first.

Preferred qualifications

  • Clear and persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Recognized as a self-starter with a bias for action.
  • Creative problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset approach
  • Experience managing across highly matrixed organizations, often with competing priorities.
  • Deep understanding of content disciplines, including SEO, content strategy, and execution.
  • Experience with commercial technology sales processes
