Full-time:

Title: Communications Specialist

Reports to: Chamber President

Summary Description:

The Communications Specialist is responsible for creating accurate articles, press releases, and marketing materials for printed and online mediums, annual member directory, social media, and website updates. They will coordinate Chamber events with team members and positively represent the Chamber through event attendance and member services.

Communications Responsibilities:

Write, assemble, edit, and proofread articles for monthly newsletters, Business Advocate, and bimonthly Enews.

Manage the website and provide updates on social media platforms.

Create, write, and update printed and digital marketing materials.

Proofread various publications.

Assist with production details of the annual chamber business directory.

Develop engaging promotional materials, including event visuals, ads, and member coupons.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Provide staff support for the Board and other Chamber committees.

Update events calendar for print and digital mediums.

Attend and assist with the organization of various Chamber events and programs.

Perform other duties as directed and needed.

Excellent customer service is a priority for the Chamber of Commerce. The successful candidate should always demonstrate a positive attitude to members and the public.

All staff members are expected to assist with Chamber projects and events and provide visitor and member services information, as needed.

Requirements:

Excellent writing skills and accuracy are REQUIRED for this position.

College graduate preferred; relevant experience may be considered in the absence of a degree.

Proficient in writing and distributing press releases.

Outstanding customer service and verbal skills.

Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines.

Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Constant Contact, social media platforms, and SurveyMonkey.

Solid Adobe Creative Suite skills, particularly in Photoshop and Illustrator.

Knowledge of databases, HTML, and Google Analytics.

Valid New Mexico driver’s license.

Legal eligibility to work permanently in the United States.

Position may require occasional extended hours or weekend work.

Enthusiastic about learning and team-oriented.
