Hourly A. POSITION PURPOSE
The position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and provides support for the School of Engineering's website and digital media presence used to market the SoE. The position identifies, recommends, and develops web resources, digital media, and technology improvements that are consistent with the goals and strategic directions of the University and the SoE.
This is an on-campus position that must be able to deliver projects successfully and on time with little oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SoE's Website and Social Media used to Market the SoE
Assist supervisor by maintaining all digital media.
Assist the supervisor with evaluation and redesign website
Run Google analytics for the SoE's website.
Serve as a resource to faculty and staff to create and edit SoE web pages, including content, images, links, structure, design, and functionality.
In conjunction with the SoE Communications and Alumni Relations Specialist, write and edit content for information accuracy, consistent style, adherence to a common marketing voice, and greater user satisfaction.
Attend monthly meetings hosted by University Marketing and Communications as SoE's Website Administrator.
Maintain SoE's social media presence by posting and interacting with other University accounts and followers
Assist supervisor by maintaining the SoE's social media content calendar
Run analytics for SoE social media channels through University social media management tools
Content Creation and Design Work
Design, create, and maintain SoE media content, including graphics and post-production work of video and photography
Assist supervisor by implementing strategies in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team to create new content, i.e., interviews, documentaries, advertisements, promotional videos, etc.
Assist supervisor by implementing digital media and marketing strategies, in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Team, to target various SoE audiences including, but not limited to, current students, alumni/ae, donors, corporate partners, and prospective students.
Assist in the conceptualizing, creation and displaying material to further SoE and University goals.
Online Software Applications, Data Collection, and Emerging Technologies
Assist with electronic applications/software including, but not limited to SoE's digital signage, existing and potential survey forms, and special events electronic registration, payment applications, and viewing portals.
Ensures data is imported accurately into the prospective databases, where appropriate, and runs reports.
Assist supervisor with special marketing projects to utilize technologies including AR, VR, and AI.
Other Duties as Assigned
Complete special projects assigned by Director of Marketing and Communications.
May represent the SoE Marketing and Communications team in meetings and/or committees.
Supports Marketing and Communications team with SoE events as needed.
PROVIDES WORK DIRECTION
May supervise student employees.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
Assists supervisor by recommending initiatives. implementing changes to improve quality and services. Assists supervisor by Identifying cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices. Supports supervisor by maintaining contact with customers and solicits feedback for improved services. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow. Prepares progress reports. Informs supervisor of project status. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions. Implements guidelines to support the functions of the unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience required or preferred.
This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
1. Knowledge
Demonstrated ability to learn, apply new web design, development software, and best practices.
Knowledge of digital media and strategic marketing practices including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
Knowledge of SEO best practices
Foundational understanding of university wide media services and technology support systems to support SoE faculty, staff and students.
Understanding, support of the Jesuit tradition of education, and a commitment to the fundamental values of service to others, community and diversity.
2. Skills
Excellent customer service skills especially working with faculty, students and staff from varying educational and cultural backgrounds and varying technical expertise.
Strong writing, editing, and design skills.
Possess working knowledge of current HTML Standards.
Must be proficient in design software including Adobe Photoshop or Canva.
Must be proficient in Google Suite tools (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, Calendar)
Experience with content management systems, specifically Terminal Four, a plus.
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, a plus.
Experience with AR, VR, and AI, a plus.
3. Abilities
Demonstrated ability to implement projects and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Skills in mentoring student employees.
4. Education
Bachelor's degree in web design and development, communications, marketing, or related field, preferred but not required
