Position Title: Assistant Coach, Women's Volleyball

A. POSITION PURPOSE
The University competes at the NCAA Division I level and is a member of the West Coast Conference (WCC). Reporting to the Head Coach of Women's Volleyball, the Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in all aspects of running a Division I Women's Volleyball program including, but not limited to: game preparation, teaching and coaching; practices and player conditioning; recruitment and retention of student-athletes; program administration; academic integrity; and donor/alumni public relations and youth programs. In addition, the assistant coach is responsible for abiding by all conference and NCAA regulations to ensure departmental compliance.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with creation and implementation of effective match, practice and conditioning plans for the student-athletes.
Work with Head Coach to develop effective drills and strategies for player improvement.
Work with Head Coach and staff to review opponents and develop team game tactics for matches.
Use video software (VolleyMetrics, VolleyStation) to create teaching and scouting videos for student-athlete development and preparation.
Assist and/or monitor strength and conditioning programs as needed.
2. Direct or assist with recruitment of the best student-athlete within the admissions, financial and regulatory standards and policies established by the University, WCC and NCAA.
Assist with the identification of potential student-athletes.
Arrange and prepare on-campus visits.
Coordinate recruiting activities with media department including social media post.
Report all recruiting activities to Compliance office.
3. Assist with administrative responsibilities of the Volleyball program in an efficient and responsible manner.
Work with various areas of the department (equipment room, facilities, etc.) to ensure proper communication of schedules and other needs.
Act as main contact with compliance office including preparing and turning in logs (CARA, Recruiting).
Manage team and gym equipment inventory and ordering.
4. Assist in the monitoring and verification of program related expenditures and revenues.
Assist with travel arrangements and finances.
Ensure fiscal responsibility by administering the program's budget within University and Department guidelines.
5. Assist External Relations and Development staff with program and department promotion and events.
Assist Media Relations with media-related requests and team social media accounts.
Assist Ticket Operations and Game Day Managers with fan experience opportunities.
Assist Development with donor and alumni relations that may include fundraisers and special events.
Maintain alumnae database. Create and send regular communication.
6. Skillfully communicate with colleagues and student-athletes.
Serve as a role model and example of sportsmanlike conduct and of the qualities taught by Santa Clara University.
Maintain active communication with internal constituencies.
6. Display commitment to the academic success of student-athletes.
Work cooperatively and effectively with Academic Support Services staff.
Assist and/or monitor study hall program.
7. Abide by all conference, department and NCAA regulations and assist to ensure departmental compliance.
Successfully pass NCAA recruiting test
Attend all compliance seminars and reviews.
Maintain current CPR certification.
8. Other Duties as Assigned.

E. QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The items below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities, education, and experience required or preferred.
This position requires the ability to effectively establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
1. Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the sport of volleyball required.
Thorough understanding of NCAA regulations and policies related to managing a Division I program.
2. Skills
Strong, positive communication skills as a coach and as a member of the Department of Athletics.
3. Abilities
Ability to interact positively with students and fellow coaches.
4. Education
Bachelor's degree required.
5. Years of Experience
Minimum of three years of demonstrated success in an assistant coach or playing position at the Division I level preferred.
