Engineering Manager, Electronics Contract Manufacturing

Job Purpose:

This position offers the candidates the opportunity to lead highly skilled engineers at a State of the Art Contract Electronics Manufacturing plant. Sanmina is a Tier 1 Electronics Contract manufacturer producing a wide variety of complex electronic products in Industrial, Military, Aerospace, Medical, Commercial and other markets. The plant produces high density integrated SMT Printed Circuit Board Assemblies and sophisticated Electronic end user products.

The Engineering Manager will lead and mentor Manufacturing, Process and Test Engineers and Technicians utilizing LEAN, 6 Sigma principles and advanced SMT manufacturing equipment and systems. The Manager directs engineering staff in continuous improvement and efficiency of plant and processes, controls and technology advancements. Interfaces directly with the customer engineering team in consultations to lead their Design For Manufacturing (DFM) principles. Overseas and leads plant investments in developing the technology roadmaps for factory optimization and cost reduction.

Nature of Duties:

Candidate will manage a team of engineers and technicians who support the following areas,

• Manufacturing floor processes that will optimize the use of equipment and resources while controlling and reducing overall factory costs.

• Troubleshoot and repair of manufacturing process problems related to tooling, consumables, supplies, and related software systems (i.e. programs, program databases, CAD systems, etc.).

• Successful in developing and metoint in new production processes, work instructions, procedures.

• Oversees and management continuous improvement programs and implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts

• Must be able to mentor engineers in shop floor process instructions, yield targets, DFM principles, test processes and identify materials and equipment required to manufacture a wide breadth of SMT based assemblies.

• Provide leadership in labor time estimates and tooling costs for product quotations.

• Identifies manufacturing and process solutions required to solve assembly and construction challenges required to produce complex electronic products.

Education and Experience

• BS Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or other engineering discipline.

• A minimum of 8 years related engineering experience including management experience

• Must have electronics manufacturing experience in automated SMT Manufacturing processes.

• Ability to work closely with customer R&D teams in manufacturing processes.

• Commitment to lead and meet the desired deadlines and milestones in a rapidly changing environment.

• Excellent interpersonal and management skills

• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Experience with ERP Systems, Oracle preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/deadlines and deliver high quality results.
