SanMar is Hiring a Remote Release Manager

At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference.
What's the Short Version?
The Release Manager manages the release of change to production applications and systems used to run the SanMar business. They ensure all software and system changes are deployed successfully. The Release Manager interacts with IT peers including configuration management, project management, developers, quality assurance, system administration and IT operations personnel. They are responsible for tracking and communicating changes for production including the overall release schedule. This person will participate in specific releases and help guide project teams to appropriate decisions for rolling back or continuing forward. They will be the resident system expert for the project and code issue tracking software (Jira).
What Will You Be Doing?
  • Create, manage and maintain a master calendar of releases including new projects, enhancements, fixes, infrastructure changes.
  • Organize and conduct Change Approval Board meetings to gain approval for releases.
  • Partner with business departments, project management and support groups to establish, communicate and enforce appropriate release standards.
  • Manage eCommerce deployments at least twice weekly during off hours.
  • Ensure appropriate advance communications for all releases are communicated effectively.
  • Define, develop and manage release management practices and procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and publish release tracking and reporting metrics.
  • Work directly with the Leadership team to organize the use of the system for tracking project work from Concept to Production.
  • Be the resident expert on workflow, system capabilities and use in the system.
What Are We Looking For?
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related technical field Preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in IT or related fields.
  • Experience in software release planning and/or execution.
  • Systems Analysis, Development, Project Management & Leadership experience.
  • Experience as a code developer.
  • Experience with eCommerce Website infrastructure is preferred.
  • Experience with Subversion or Git is preferred.
  • Experience with Jira is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Configuration Management (SCM) and Version Control Systems (VCS).
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to track all projects across multiple systems & teams.
  • Ability to establish a plan and work independently to execute; ability to self-manage in times of stress, and independently make timely decisions in alignment with business goals.
  • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address business issues; professionally drive change and process improvement.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills; able to document ideas concisely and quickly.
  • Ability to interact with many different skill sets and roles within the company; ability to negotiate and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong user support / customer service skills.
What's Our Offer?
Salary Range: You`ll earn between $80,000 - $105,000 annually, depending on experience.
Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.
Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 7 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?
Hybrid: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work environment is moderately quiet. Ability to work on computer for multiple hours with frequent interruptions.
