Sanitary District of Decatur is Hiring a Management Information Systems Coordinator Near Decatur, IL

Summary:

Performs the role of network administrator and provides day-to-day management of Information Technology (IT) equipment and software. Acts as SDD Help Desk to work with staff on day-to-day issues that arise. Plans, schedules, and designs operations of Information Technology (IT) and designs programs to process business data and solve District related problems by the use of electronic data processing equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs The Districts networking processes, maintains firewalls configuration and rules, and maintains the IPS to detect and prevent malicious attacks on the network.
  • Performs the role of network administrator and subject matter expert in the areas of configuration, installation, maintenance, patch management, and upgrade of network equipment.
  • Maintains and secures wireless network infrastructure.
  • Maintains and secures VOIP servers and equipment.
  • Develops and implements sound business solutions that meet IT objectives, increase efficiencies, conserve resources, and result in cost savings for IT support and maintenance.
  • Creates and maintains current project schedules and timelines using a project tracking system to ensure milestones are met.
  • Provides guidance, direction, and training to staff.
  • Maintains strong communications with management and end users.
  • Researches, develops, tests, and implements new technologies and recommends software, hardware, equipment and best practices/approaches/methodologies that enhance IT performance capabilities.
  • Identifies areas of potential risk and recommends remediation.
  • Provides reports and metrics as needed to support operational requirements and growth planning.
  • Deploy new virtual servers/appliances, including domain controllers, DNS, and DHCP servers.
  • Works with the Information Systems Manager to develop and adhere to an annual budget and project list. Aides with the development of the long-term capital plan for replacement of IT related equipment and software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assigning; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems for assigned employees.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science Degree with two to three years of data processing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Language Skills:

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and detailed meeting reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Must have ability to conduct data processing literature previews,

searches and reports.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

A valid Illinois motor vehicle operator's license is required. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain current network and equipment certifications for all installed equipment and software.

The Sanitary District of Decatur is the regional wastewater treatment authority for central Macon County providing wastewater treatment services to the residents of the City of Decatur, Village of Forsyth, Village of Mt. Zion, and for industrial and commercial users in the Decatur metropolitan area. The Sanitary District of Decatur was formed in 1917 and the original treatment facility was completed in 1924. Major expansions and facility updates were made in 1928, 1957, 1964 and 1976.
