Speech-Language Pathologist

  • Location: Eagle-Butte, SD

JobOverview:

As Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) you need to provide on-site contract support services at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School. Responsibilities include delivering therapy to students identified or requiring speech/language services in a K-12 school with around 869 total students, including approximately 30 receiving speech-language support. Join us to make a positive impact on students' communication and academic success.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and therapy services to students at Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School, assessing individual speech and language needs and implementing therapy interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Special Education Director, School Supervisor, school staff, students, and parents to ensure effective communication and continuity of services.
  • Complete evaluations within state and federal timelines, prepare written reports, create Individual Education Plans (IEP), participate in IEP meetings, and implement goals/objectives identified in the IEP.
  • Maintain proper documentation and files related to evaluations and therapy sessions.
  • Provide on-site training to school staff and/or parents on relevant topics as requested by the Special Education Coordinator/School Supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in training and workshops requested by the Special Education Coordinator/School Supervisor, subject to schedule and availability.
  • May be required to participate in Extended School Year (ESY) if there is a determined need.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology, communication disorders, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university. Or, completed a speech-language pathology academic program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Hold a full, current, and unrestricted speech-language pathology license in the state of South Dakota.
  • Proficiency in typing and computer skills for efficient documentation and communication.
  • Ability to work on-site approximately 3 days per week during school sessions and be available for consultation to ensure continuity of services.
  • Adhere to state and federal timelines for evaluation completion and IEP compliance (within 25 school days and 60 calendar days, respectively).
