Sanford Federal, Inc. is seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our team at the CSOSA Re-entry and Sanctions Center (RSC) in Washington DC. The Recreation Therapist will be responsible for conducting therapeutic recreational group sessions for participants, focusing on physical activity, relaxation techniques, and stress reduction.

Location: CSOSA Re-entry and Sanctions Center (RSC), 1900 Massachusetts Avenue, SE, Washington DC

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct group sessions with 6 to 12 participants, providing approximately 50 minutes of direct group facilitation.
• Allocate approximately 10 minutes for session preparation, including set-up and breakdown.
• Develop clearly stated objectives and goals for each therapeutic recreational group session.
• Plan and lead a variety of activities, including calisthenics, stretching exercises, relaxation techniques, education on proper body mechanics, arts and crafts, sports, movement, yoga, and meditation.
• Ensure a total of 416 sessions are conducted over the course of 12 months.
• Work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, conducting 8 sessions per week (4 sessions each Tuesday and Thursday).
• Conduct morning sessions from 10:00 am to 11:00 am / 11:00 am to 12:00 pm and evening sessions from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm / 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field.
• Either certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Previous experience in conducting recreational therapy sessions preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
• Must be able to pass the required medical tests.
