Job Title: Construction Cost Estimator

LOCATION: Everglades, Florida, United States.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education: A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended but not required.

2. Experience: A minimum of four or more years of related experience in construction cost estimation or a closely related field.

3. Physical Capability: Must be physically capable of walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods of time, as site visits and fieldwork may be required.

4. Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes. Familiarity with construction codes and regulations.

5. Cost Estimation Skills: Proficiency in cost estimation techniques, including quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, and cost breakdowns.

6. Data Analysis: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze data, evaluate costs, and make informed decisions.

7. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate cost estimates and related information to project teams and stakeholders.

8. Construction Software: Proficiency in construction cost estimating software and tools, such as RSMeans, CostX, or similar applications.

9. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in cost estimates and calculations.

10. Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.

11. Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

12. Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to obtain competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and identify cost components.

2. Quantity Takeoff: Perform quantity takeoffs by measuring and quantifying materials, labor, and equipment required for construction activities.

3. Cost Analysis: Research and analyze historical cost data, market trends, and industry benchmarks to develop accurate cost estimates.

4. Pricing: Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to determine material and labor costs. Negotiate pricing and terms when necessary.

5. Cost Breakdown: Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits, and other project-related expenses.

6. Cost Tracking: Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction process, identifying any deviations from the estimated budget and analyzing their impact.

7. Value Engineering: Collaborate with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering alternatives without compromising quality and functionality.

8. Cost Reporting: Prepare cost reports, including cost estimates, cost variance analysis, and cost projections, for project stakeholders.

9. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs. Develop contingency plans and alternative cost estimates.

10. Bid Preparation: Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including cost estimates, project schedules, and other relevant documentation.

11. Collaborative Communication: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure accurate cost estimates.

12. Cost Database Management: Maintain and update a comprehensive cost database, including historical cost data, unit costs, and productivity rates.
