Job Summary:

Sanford Federal, Inc. is seeking a Certified Arborist to assess and manage hazard trees along the Rocky Gap ATV Trail on the Allegheny National Forest. The Certified Arborist will be responsible for identifying potential hazards, conducting tree assessments, and overseeing safe tree removal operations to ensure trail safety for users.

Duties:

• Conduct assessments of trees along the trail to identify hazards such as dead or diseased trees, leaning trees, or branches overhanging the trail.
• Develop and implement hazard tree management plans in accordance with industry best practices and project specifications.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager and Trail Maintenance Supervisor to schedule tree removal activities and allocate resources as needed.
• Direct crew members and subcontractors in safe tree removal techniques, including climbing, rigging, and cutting.
• Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of tree assessments, removal activities, and associated documentation.
• Provide recommendations for vegetation management and trail corridor maintenance to mitigate future hazards.

Requirements:

• ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist credential or equivalent certification.
• Bachelor's degree in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in arboriculture, tree care, or forestry, with demonstrated expertise in hazard tree assessment and management.
• Proficiency in identifying tree species, recognizing signs of tree decay or disease, and evaluating tree risk.
• Strong knowledge of safe tree removal techniques, equipment, and industry standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.99 - $26.63 per hour
