The Deputy CFO/Director of Finance oversees all financial aspects of our airport operations. This position will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the airport by providing strategic financial guidance, managing financial planning and analysis, and implementing sound fiscal policies and procedures. This will be achieved personally and through subordinate staff, guided by precedent and working within the limits of established policies.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, variance analysis, and forecasts.
  • Lead activities during the annual audit process.
  • Support the CFO in budgeting processes. Work with department heads to respond to budgeting process inquiries, provide counsel, investigate anomalies, and resolve variances. Model budget requirements for various capital or operational major expenditures to inform business decision making.
  • Remain current on the evolution of emerging accounting standards and best practices.
  • Lead efforts to modernize and streamline business processes and related technology.
  • Manage both the accounts receivable and payable processes.
  • Review fixed assets acquisitions/disposals.
  • Monitor grant related financial activities in collaboration with Grant Administration to ensure compliance with established procedures for processing receipts, disbursements, account reconciliations and document filings.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and track project performance against budget and forecast.
  • Maintain effective internal controls and audit processes to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including executive leadership, department heads, and board members, to align financial objectives with organizational priorities.
  • Serve as a secondary financial liaison with internal and external stakeholders, such as the executive team, board of directors, airlines, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and vendors.
  • Implement pricing strategies and revenue optimization techniques to maximize airport revenue.
  • Manage operating expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvement
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Use computer and common office equipment including Microsoft Office and other software and applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial accounting principles, GAAP, GASB, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on driving innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5-8 years) in financial management, preferably in the aviation or transportation industry.
  • ACE Finance and/or Certified Member (C.M.) designation from AAAE is a plus.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:

  • Positions in this class are typically situated in a standard office environment resulting in little exposure to the weather and requiring no unusual physical tasks or abilities.
