What you’ll do:

As a Mental Health/ Detox Travel Nurse at Sandstone Care, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work with two different populations that require different types of care and support.

• You’ll work with adults at the Chantilly Medical Detox location, where you’ll provide essential medical support and care to clients who are going through the detoxification process. You’ll help them cope with the physical and psychological effects of withdrawal, monitor their vital signs, administer medications, and ensure their safety and comfort. You’ll also be a source of encouragement and guidance for clients who are taking the first step towards recovery.
• You’ll work with teens at the Crownsville Residential Treatment Center, where you’ll provide compassionate and holistic care to clients who are seeking treatment for substance use and mental health disorders. You’ll help them address the underlying causes of their issues, develop healthy coping skills, and build self-esteem and confidence. You’ll also be a role model and a mentor for clients who are looking for direction and hope in their lives.

Who You Are

• Active RN or LPN License: You should hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license that allows you to practice in Maryland and Virginia 
• Experience in Substance Abuse and/or Co-Occurring Disorders: Previous experience in treating substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders is strong preferred. 
• Preferred: Training in Verbal De-Escalation and/or Mental Health: While not mandatory, having training in verbal de-escalation and mental health is strongly preferred, as it enhances your ability to provide comprehensive care.
• Valid Driver's License with No Restrictions: A valid driver's license with no restrictions is required. You must also be willing and able to transport clients using a 15-passenger van as needed.
• Ideal Candidates Have a Minimum of 2 Years of Experience: While not a strict requirement, ideal candidates typically have a minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
