Sandpiper Post Acute is a magnificent 176 bed skilled nursing facility located in the heart of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. We are excited to share that we are operating under new management building a new dynamic team! Are you looking to make a difference in the lives of those we serve?

We are looking for a charismatic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our team. The ideal candidate will have the passion, commitment, and drive to enrich the skills of all clinical staff who strive to deliver the highest quality care to our patients and residents every day. You should be a strong, competent, compassionate leader who has the drive to achieve high clinical standards.

The Director of Nursing (DON) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who oversees and supervises the care of all the residents. The DON also provides direct resident/patient care and is responsible for supervising and managing the ADON, and entire nursing staff either directly or indirectly.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate nursing care for patients, including planning, implementing, and evaluating care and working with other healthcare providers.
  • Perform safety assessments of patients and work environment to ensure satisfactory standards of nursing practice.
  • Maintain current knowledge of geriatrics, behavior management, and other areas relevant to care of the elderly.
  • Maintain knowledge of state nursing statutes and regulations.
  • Provide education to staff regarding the development of continuing competence in geriatric care.
  • Overall management of the entire nursing department and staffing levels.
  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring resident safety and that all residents are treated with utmost respect.
  • Develop and conduct in-services for the clinical staff.
  • Responsible for the training of nursing staff.
  • Coordinates pharmacy services and destruction of expired/discontinued medication.
  • Liaison between the facility, physicians and family members.
  • Work closely with all other departments to ensure excellent overall resident care.
  • Responsible for department budgeting and reporting.
  • Responsible for keeping current on any regulation changes and disseminating this information appropriately.
  • Participate in QA, Utilization Review and Patient Care conferences.
  • Actively participate in and assist with all state surveys and required follow-up activity.
  • Conduct employee appraisals and resolve problems including disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Must maintain employee and resident/patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Provide direct/hands-on resident/patient care as needed.

Minimum requirements to perform this position include:

  • Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred (BSN).
  • Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina (Required)
  • Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain all required continuing education/licensing requirements at all times.
  • Minimum of 7 years nurse management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Point Click Care (Required)
  • LTC experience (Required)
  • Ability to lead by example and a willingness to step in as needed in any way that benefits patient care
  • Ideal candidate must be a skilled communicator, director and motivator. Able to organize and prioritize many tasks effectively.
  • Desire to enrich resident and staff's lives.

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN in South Carolina
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse in SNF is preferred
  • Current CPR certification
  • Experience with PCC preferred
  • Must maintain all required continuing education/ licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
