OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
Assists in ensuring the credit union’s policies, practices, and products adhere to applicable laws and regulations. Coordinates and monitors Bank Secrecy Act reporting for the credit union. Conducts compliance research; and communicates with staff and leadership about pertinent compliance topics. Conducts reviews of various processes and controls.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in implementing, coordinating, and monitoring the credit union’s BSA compliance program.
- Conducts compliance research, including federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance. Acts as a compliance resource to answer compliance questions from branches and departments.
- Designs and conducts regular reviews of various processes across the credit union.
- Provides ongoing and annual Bank Secrecy Act training to staff.
- Reviews legal relationship documents (POA, conservator, guardian, etc) for the credit union.
- Processes subpoenas and levies.
- Monitors BSA compliance developments through publications, training, and online research.
- Assists in developing compliance controls and testing those controls for effectiveness.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical regulatory and legal language and conduct extensive research.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Meets deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years’ experience in financial services or compliance in another industry preferred
- General knowledge of credit union operations
