Sandhills Global Event Center is Hiring a Food & Beverage Manager Near Lincoln, NE

Fast-growing, dynamic, public event center is looking for a Food & Beverage Manager to co-lead thriving food & beverage department which is critical driver of our guest experience and financial contributor for our non-profit operation.
Sandhills Global Event Center (SGEC) is a nationally recognized event center with 400,000 square feet of multiuse spaces on 160 acres with two newly opened outdoor events spaces: the 10th largest event center campground (1,300 sites) in the USA and a newly expanded outdoor multisport grandstand arena. Now home to over 300 events with 500-600K visitor days annually, the SGEC drives over $50-65 million in local economic impact while providing affordable space for local youth, community, and business events. The SGEC is owned and operated by the Lancaster County Agricultural Society which organizes and produces the largest county fair in Nebraska each summer- the Lancaster County Super Fair - which draws over 100K visitors over 10 days in late July/early August annually.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have a degree or coursework in culinary and/or hospitality management.
  • Have excellent communication, supervisory & teamwork skills.
  • Thrive on working in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment with unpredictable guest flows and “rushes” and wide variety of types of customers.
  • Catering/banquet selling and management experience a plus.
  • Experience managing and analyzing how to improve menu, vendors, inventory, setups, decorating/merchandising all a plus.
  • Creativity and innovative ideas to tailor and constantly improve food & beverage services that our wide variety of events value.
  • Ability to create documents, processes to help create consistency in food & beverage execution.
  • Ability to learn and work with multiple event industry and small business software programs (Ungerboeck, eTix, ShopKeep, Quickbooks, etc.) and an existing working knowledge of Microsoft especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with 4-H, agriculture, livestock, trade shows, and/or outdoor events is also a plus in this unique organization.
SCHEDULE:
  •  Regular office hours to be agreed upon between Monday to Friday for planning and interacting with the rest of SGEC management/office team with wide variation of hours worked weekly based on major events including nights/weekends for larger events as needed.
  • Will have wide latitude to modify own schedule and to delegate to staff planning/prep tasks to allow you to take time off to make up for time worked for events on nights/weekends each week. 
TRAVEL: 
  •  Very limited possibly for sporadic conferences, trainings or visiting major events or other event centers with ample notice.
  • May need to drive locally to submit permits, meetings with suppliers or customers and will be reimbursed mileage.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and work on computer, and phone.
  • Ability to work inside or outside in wide variety of weather and can periodically accommodate long periods standing, walking and periodic lifting up to 50 pounds during setup/service of events.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT:
· Negotiable for job-related study.

SALARY:
  • $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year depending on experience
  • Participate in Banquet / Catering gratuity (approx. $3,500 a year and growing).
  • First performance review to confirm mutual fit at 90 days (probationary period).
  • First pay performance review no less than 6 months, ongoing annually from hire based on performance.
EXPERIENCE:
  • relevant: 5 years
  • managerial/supervisory: 2 years minimum (5 preferred)
LICENSES:
  • NE Food Protection Manager Permit (Required)
  • Servsafe Manager Certification (Preferred)
  • NE Liquor Event Manager (Preferred)
