Job Summary:

Our flight school is seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and functional environment for our students, instructors, and staff. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including inspecting, repairing, and maintaining buildings, hangars, equipment, and grounds. This position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine inspections of buildings, hangars, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  3. Troubleshoot and repair equipment and systems as needed, including aircraft ground support equipment, lighting, and security systems.
  4. Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance projects.
  5. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for maintenance tasks.
  6. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from flight instructors, students, and administrative staff.
  7. Perform general maintenance duties such as painting, carpentry, landscaping, and janitorial tasks.
  8. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  9. Assist with setup and teardown of equipment and facilities for events, classes, and training sessions.
  10. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections for record-keeping purposes.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in an aviation or similar technical environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  6. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  7. Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
  8. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  9. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  10. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Certification or training in aircraft ground support equipment maintenance.
  2. Experience with facilities maintenance software and systems.
  3. Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety standards.
  4. Previous experience working in a flight school or aviation-related facility.
