JOB TITLE: School Psychologist WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Implement the special education assessment process including testing for emotional disturbance and autism. Assess the need for counseling as a related service. Provide diagnostic information and work cooperatively with instructional personnel and parents to provide an appropriate educational program for students with disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree or PhD
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, proficiency in psychological testing, education of students with disabilities, human development, and learning theories State Board of Education rules, Commissioner’s rules, IDEA
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Conflict resolution and consultation skills
Minimum Experience:
Completion of approved internship
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Any interns and/or practicum students assigned.

Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written); ability to instruct; ability to maintain
emotional control under stress; ability to manage multiple priorities and to work at multiple
sites as assigned
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Regular district wide travel; moderate lifting and carrying; ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned
