San Luis Valley Health is Hiring a Patient Financial Counselor Near Alamosa, CO

The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Patient Financial Counselor to assist patients with questions relative to healthcare costs, insurance, EOBs, statements of service, payment plans, payments and refunds.


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
  • At least two years experience in a business office setting, working in a health care facility preferred
  • Previous billing, insurance and customer service experience, preferred
  • Bi-lingual preferred but not required
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and written

What You'll Do:

  • Greet patients and answer account inquiries in person, by email and over the phone.
  • Demonstrates competency with patient estimates, payment collections, payment plans and understands patient's responsibilities for all billing systems.
  • Notating accounts with inquiry and response/resolution to each question or issue.
  • Negotiation and set up of payment contracts in the system.
  • Assists patients with programs that may help patient with coverage of their bills.
  • Works to address credit balance accounts in the system and resolves accounts for refunds as appropriate in conjunction with the cash processing team.
  • Assisting other areas within the Patient Access and Patient Financial Services as needed.
