Job Summary

The Special Education Paraeducator Lead works with assigned certificated staff such as Program Specialists and Special Education teachers and provides functional supervision and direction to other Special Education Paraeducators within the district and works at various school sites as needed.Please see the Job Description for additional information and essential duties of the job.

Oral Board Interviews: TBD. We are looking to fill a position for the 2024-25 school year. Must be willing to work in person. Make sure all documents are attached or your application can not be considered if incomplete.Fingerprint and TB Clearances will be required to obtain prior to starting work. This position will be based at Student Services at the DO and flexible to work at multiple sites.Preferred: Experience working with students with disabilities, training, and leadership skills.TEST INFORMATION: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TEST OR SUBMIT A COPY OF TRANSCRIPT. Applicants who possess an AA/AS Degree, or who have two full years of college coursework (48 semester units or 60 quarter units from an accredited college course with a grade of C or better will count) are not required to take the District offered written examination. If you wish to be waived from the written examination, you must submit copies of your transcripts with your application. If hired, you will be required to submit official transcripts.If you do not have the required units you will be contacted to take a written examination covering mathematics and writing skills required by minimum qualifications contained in the Class Specification (NCLB Examination).Dates and times for next offered NCLB examinations TBD. The NCLB exam is offered in person only at the District Office, 1500 Lizzie St. San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.If you need to take this exam, please note this on your application. Allow two hours for the examination. Minimum passing score is 70%.Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and experience on a job-related basis. Candidates who successfully pass screening and have submitted all required documents will proceed to an oral interview.An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training is required. Interviews are approximately 20-30 minutes. Date for the oral board interview TBD. Minimum passing score is 70%. Candidates will be contacted for a hiring interview when they have placed in the top three ranks of the oral board interviews. If you have not placed in the top three ranks, you will be placed on the eligibility list for six months from the date of the oral boards for other vacancies that may arise during that time. Placement on the eligibility list is not a guarantee that you will be offered a position.ADDITIONAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months. This is a dual examination in which the resulting eligibility list shall consist of promotional and open competitive candidates.
