Facilities Access Control Specialist Assistant - Central Campus
- Assure that you have complete knowledge of appropriate procedures and take measures to assure safe outcomes for all tasks undertaken.
- Assisting the College Access Control Specialists, maintain daily control, scheduling and operations of SJC facilities electronic access control systems (DNA Fusion, Keystone). Update database of access approvals for all College employees.
- Assist in managing inventory of existing mechanical keys and inventory of mechanical related hardware for the College. Asist in fabrication of keys.
- Assist in management of replacement keys for college furniture, cabinetry / millwork, and locked equipment.
- Assist repair services for access control systems.
- Learn and adhere to specification guidelines and design details for College facilities access control systems and devices.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair services for all accessibility / handicap door systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair services for all College access control systems. Work, execute, comment, and close work orders as necessary when work tasks are assigned.
- Assist in other life safety related activities such as fire extinguisher inspections.
- Assist in other activities as assigned.
- Basic exposure to security process, hardware, and function of both mechanical and electronic access control systems is desired.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
- Ability to learn, understand, and operate access control software systems.
- Ability to learn to assess access control problems; plan, communicate, and implement solution with direction.
- Demonstrate superior customer service skills while dealing with the needs of almost 3500 College employees.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Education:
- 1 yr. post high school training, trade school education, or locksmith coursework.
Required Experience:
- 1-year work experience mechanical troubleshooting, repair, installation, and operating activities.
- Competency in typical office suite software and basic understanding of software applications.
- 1-year commercial access control experience, as well as, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and operating experience.
- Exposure to Best Lock Systems (IC Core)
- Experience in electronic access control software.
- One-year experience in an educational setting.
- Experience with multi-tiered commercial master key systems.
- Experience in opening failed locking mechanisms with minimal damage.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Texas Drivers License
Preferred Licenses/Certifications:
- Texas Locksmith Association License
Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.
Salary Grade: 15
Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
