Position will work closely with interdisciplinary teams of teachers to support students, partners, and others in a program focused in the fields of health and life sciences. Who We Want

A head counselor provides a comprehensive counseling and guidance program, based on the ASCA National counseling standards, ensuring that academic, career, and personal/social services are offered to all students. The head counselor assumes a leadership role in the development of an appropriate program of guidance for the school site. The head counselor should be seen as the person who is proactive in attitude and can, working with the school counselors, offer creative solutions to student difficulties prior to the student violating a school rule. The head counselor position should be filled by a master’s level School Counselor, with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling, who can motivate adults as well as students to maximize student potential and academic achievement.

Minimum Qualifications

SFUSD requires all head counselors to hold a valid California Pupil Services Credential in School Counseling and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling.
