San Diego State University is Hiring an Assistant basketball Near San Diego, CA

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Head Men’s Basketball Coach, the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department.

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the Men’s Basketball program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of men’s basketball in the Athletic Department.

These coaching functions include, but are not limited to the following : recruiting, administrative duties, coaching, counseling, teaching, staging, fundraising, and public services.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University.

Currently, there are 19 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following : The Aztec Club, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, Corporate Sales, Development, Equipment, Event Management / Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years coaching Division I men’s basketball
  • Supervisory experience

Key Qualifications

  • High level knowledge of basketball techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and success in teaching basketball skills and fundamentals.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships on campus and in the community.
  • Ability to organize and motivate student-athletes to maximum performance level in sports and academic achievement.

Licenses / Certifications Required

Valid California driver’s license within 10 days of hire.

Compensation and Benefits

San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Anticipated hiring range : $252,000 - $278,676 annually
