Judaic/Hebrew Specialist, Early Childhood
Join our vibrant team as a part-time Judaic/Hebrew Specialist in the ECC (Early Childhood Center)! You’ll play a vital role in our educational community, inspiring young learners to embrace Hebrew language and Jewish traditions and music with joy and enthusiasm. If you excel at building relationships, creating engaging learning experiences, and sharing your passion for Judaic Studies with young children, while embracing feedback and continuous growth, this role may be for you!
For consideration:
Ideally, we are seeking a candidate with a music background (including instrument proficiency) to celebrate Judaism and Hebrew language through the gift of music in ECC curriculum and programming, both in and out of the classroom. For the right candidate with this skill set, the position would be full-time and, in addition to the description below, would include:
  • Creating and implementing music curriculum to lay a musical foundation for young students to become lifelong appreciators of all types of music
  • Teaching basic elements of music
  • Exposing children to different musical concepts in a fun, age-appropriate way
  • Integrating music, both Jewish and secular, into the ECC curriculum and programming in collaboration with ECC leadership and the teaching team
  • Planning and leading active and interactive weekly Shabbat and Jewish holiday programming, focusing on family, connection and Jewish values
You will be kept busy with:
  • Acting as the Hebrew specialist for all classes, integrating Hebrew language and Judaic content into daily activities.
  • Leading Shabbat and Jewish programming, incorporating age-appropriate rituals and traditions.
  • Coordinating the Hebrew and Jewish studies program and curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational goals and standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create engaging and meaningful learning experiences that celebrate Jewish identity and values.
  • General supervision and management of a class and/or program, or shared responsibility, while providing a warm, friendly, nurturing and safe environment that focuses on the guidance, development, and welfare of children at all times.
  • Sharing in the general responsibility for all children in the ECC.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

You bring this to the table:
  • Fluency in Hebrew and an understanding of Judaic culture and traditions.
  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting, particularly within a Jewish school environment.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse students, families and colleagues.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing innovative solutions, lessons and programming.
  • A commitment to fostering a warm and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Preferred Education Requirements:
  • 3 units in Child/Human Growth and Development
  • 3 units in Child, Family and Community or Child and Family Relations
  • 6 units in Child Development Program/Curriculum
  • 3 units in Infant/Toddler Development
Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred but not required
Compensation:
$23/hour - $30/hour. The offer to a successful candidate will be dependent upon several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and years of experience; training; practical knowledge; and education.
