The BH Outreach Specialist will focus on community outreach/education and event planning directed at fulfilling Behavioral Health Grant objectives working under the direction of the BH Project Manager. Primary responsibilities will focus on promoting SDAIHC Behavioral Health services to San Diego County community through actively engaging and educating the public at community events and planning grant specific community events in collaboration with SDAIHC staff. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Behavior Health Outreach Specialist will attend community events throughout San Diego County to provider outreach and marketing materials and to provide educational information congruent with BH Grant Objectives ( must be available to work all shifts including evenings and weekends ).
• Must demonstrate strong outreach skills: outgoing personality with strong public speaking, time management and organizational skills.
• Must demonstrate strong educational presentation skills.
• Must be able to work within a team and also be comfortable working independently in the field.
• Assist with the implementation and delivery of culturally appropriate programming to meet the deliverable objectives of BH grants.
• Event planning aimed at community engagement to meet the deliverable objectives of BH Grants.
• Engage in outreach efforts to drive census for all of the SDAIHC services and the SDAIHC Youth Center.
• Being that the Outreach Specialist is a representative of SDAIHC it is integral to maintaining professional and responsible interactions with the public.
• Provide support and referrals to the general public seeking SDAIHC Medical, Dental or Behavioral Health services.

Qualifications: Must have at least 1 year of experience working in outreach or public relations. Ideal candidate will have a positive attitude with demonstrated outreach, organizational, and documentation skills, who is professional yet outgoing, and functions well in both a team environment and individually in the field. Experience with the American Indian community is preferred.
