San Bernardino County is Hiring a Communicable Disease Program Manager Near San Bernardino, CA

The Department of Public Health (DPH), Communicable Disease Section (CDS) is recruiting for a Communicable Disease Program Manager* who is responsible for overseeing and directing a comprehensive range of public health initiatives aimed at preventing, monitoring, and managing communicable diseases within the community. This position plays a crucial role in promoting health equity, strategic planning, and effective service delivery. The Program Manager collaborates extensively with various internal and external stakeholders, serving as a liaison and representative in matters of policy, health services planning, and community engagement. Duties include, program planning and development; managing grants and external contracts; determining and monitoring objectives and productivity levels; preparing, justifying and managing program budgets; gathering and analyzing information to determine program needs and objectives; and formulate procedures and protocols for program services.

CDS
The Communicable Disease Section (CDS) performs disease surveillance, implements infection control measures, and provides education designed to reduce or manage the incidence of infectious disease that are consistent with California law. CDS provides a wide range of personalized services including working directly with residents who have communicable disease conditions and referring them to health care providers. CDS also works with schools and health care providers to maximize immunization coverage for all ages. CDS staff are an excellent resource for information about reportable diseases and conditions, including tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections, and vaccine preventable diseases. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Travel:Travel throughout the county and state may be required. Employees will be required to make provisions for local transportation; travel throughout the State will be at the provision of the employer. Mileage reimbursement is available.At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained throughout employment.
Applicants must meet all of the following education -and- experiencerequirements:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Public/Business/Health Administration, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a closely related field of study.
-AND-
 
Experience: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent, professional administrative experience (e.g. policy development and evaluation; strategic program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation; contract and grant development, administration, and monitoring; budget oversight; and interpersonal, public, and community relations) in a Public Health program, community health organization, or closely related agency; of which two (2) years includes full-scope supervision that involved hiring, performance evaluations, and discipline up to and including termination. 
Candidates who possess a Master's degree in one of the qualifying fields of study are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have experience in any the following CDS programs and surveillance activities:
  • Tuberculosis Control Program
  • Immunizing Program
  • Perinatal Hepatitis Prevention Program
  • HIV Surveillance
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Surveillance
  • General Epidemiology
