WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

We are a year-round operation; this position requires a flexible schedule for workdays, weekends, holidays, and occasionally after-hours for special assignments. The part-time Zoo Quality weekly scheduled including weekends, and the compensation is $14.50.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A ZOO QUALITY TEAM MEMBER

As a Zoo Quality team member, you are responsible for maintaining the zoo grounds, buildings, and related areas. Work is performed under the immediate direction of the Zoo Quality Manager & Assistant Manager but may be performed under general supervision once learned. You will have constant direct guest contact and must always exhibit excellent guest service.

You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo's mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and the animals we protect. In addition, it would be best if you took pride in knowing your hard work is making a difference in wildlife conservation.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ZOO QUALITY

• Must be at least 16 years or older
• Able to understand, foresee and apply necessary safety precautions to the zoo environment.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively and appropriately while upholding professional standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with fellow employees.
• Ability to interact with the public and other staff professionally.
• Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to develop skills in operating power equipment used in performing assigned jobs.
• Sufficient physical strength, coordination, and agility to start-stop and efficiently operate gasoline engine power sweepers and a floor buffer.
• Ability to perform work tasks while bending, standing, to kneel, squatting, lifting, twisting, reaching, or sitting.
• Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes.
• One year of janitorial experience (preferred)
• Prior experience with a floor buffer and working with cleaning chemicals is a plus!
• Able to read, write and understand English desired.
• Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.
