San Antonio Zoo is looking to hire a part-time Costume Character to join our zoo family! You would help make memorable moments for our guests. Do you want to be part of a dynamic nonprofit organization that focuses on securing a future for wildlife?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Pose for photographs in costume at designated locations.
• Interact with Guests in supporting role according to guidelines provided.
• Maintain costume, including general cleaning and daily maintenance.
• Maintain and clean character areas.
• Ensure all costume character actors are adhering to safely guidelines including timed breaks and promoting climate safety practices.
• Coordinate with other departments as needed when entertainment needs are requested.
• Comply with all Zoo guidelines and policies.
• Constantly exhibit an attitude of service inside and outside of the zoo, showing hospitality to all.
• Be fully committed to the mission of San Antonio Zoo to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wild world we steward and animals we protect.
• Any and all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must meet height and build standards:
• Height - 5'5"-6'0"
• Build - Strong upper body, shoulder, core strength
• Shoe Size - Men's 9-11
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions in costume.
• Prior experience in public speaking or performance is preferred.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Must be available for all rehearsals.
• Attend off-site appearances as needed.
• Must be able to work with limited vision in the enclosed headpiece.
