Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Crane Operator/Material Handler at our Neville Island location, part of Samuel Son & Co. In this role, you will be responsible for operating cranes to move materials and products within our facility, as well as performing various material handling tasks to support production operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of crane operation, material handling procedures, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment to move materials and products throughout the facility safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas using cranes and other material handling equipment.
- Ensure that all material handling activities are conducted in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately recording materials movements and conducting cycle counts as needed.
- Collaborate with production teams to prioritize material movement and ensure timely delivery to meet production schedules.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on cranes and other equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations and standards for crane operation and material handling.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating overhead cranes in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Valid crane operator certification/license required.
- Proficiency in operating other material handling equipment such as forklifts, side loaders, and pallet jacks preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to crane operation and material handling.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic math skills and the ability to accurately record and report materials movements.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
