Samuel Knight are currently working with one of the USA's leading players in renewable energy projects With over 8GW OF projects globally.

They're on the lookout for an experienced PV Design Manager to assist the pre construction team with their projects.

About the Role:

As the PV Design Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the design and success of the companies solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. You will lead a talented team of designers, ensuring adherence to the highest technical standards and client expectations. Your expertise will be crucial in optimizing projects for energy production, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of PV designers: Provide technical guidance, support, and training to optimize team performance and ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies: Evaluate potential project sites, analyzing factors like shading, solar irradiation, roof structures, and electrical connections to determine system feasibility and optimal design.
  • Develop and optimize PV system designs: Utilize specialized software and industry best practices to design efficient and cost-effective PV systems tailored to specific project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards: Stay up-to-date with local, national, and international regulations and codes governing PV system design and installation.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications: Create comprehensive documentation for construction teams, ensuring clear and accurate technical instructions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders: Work closely with sales, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines: Establish and monitor project budgets and timelines, proactively identifying and resolving any potential issues.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and innovations: Continuously update your knowledge of the latest PV technologies, design methodologies, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement: Analyze project performance data and identify opportunities to enhance design efficiency, optimize costs, and improve overall project quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing PV systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of design professionals.
  • Strong understanding of PV system design principles, solar energy fundamentals, and electrical engineering concepts.
  • Proficient in PV design software, such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality and excellence.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to travel for site visits (if applicable).
