Samuel Field YM-YWHA is Hiring a Career Coach Near Forest, NY

POSITION DESCRIPTION Commonpoint Queens is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Career Coach to work directly with Hillel students at CUNY Colleges. The Career Coach will provide individual career counseling, plan and organize career events, assist with student recruitment and placement and develop internship opportunities for a summer internship program. The position will be hybrid remote/in-person, and will involve on-site visits to CUNY Colleges including Brooklyn College, College of Staten Island and Hunter College. May also work one day per week at Commonpoint Queens in Forest Hills. This position is ideal for high-energy professionals who are passionate about supporting students in their career and professional development. RESPONSIBILITIES ● Provide 1:1 career assistance to Hillel students with resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, career exploration, etc, on-site at CUNY Hillels and virtually. ● Plan, coordinate and execute professional development and career-related events on college campuses in collaboration with Hillel partners; assist with planning and facilitating additional program events. ● Supervise college interns in planning and coordinating career-related events and recruiting peers for career programming. ● Assist with CUNY Career Connect summer internship program, including promotion, recruitment, screening, tracking student placements and progress and providing ongoing support and mentorship to students. ● Establish and maintain relationships with employers to secure internship opportunities, collaborating with fellow job placement specialists to manage placements. ● Provide social media support and design marketing materials to promote career services and events. ● May manage a small caseload of scholarship recipients. ● Administrative duties including entering and updating student data and meeting information; collecting, tracking and organizing student information/documents; drafting routine correspondence. REQUIREMENTS ● Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years experience required ● Experience in career counseling, event planning, internship programs, or related roles. ● Previous experience working with college students preferred ● Career development skills including working knowledge of job market research, trends, online tools preferred ● Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, employers and partners. ● Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines. ● Strong attention to detail. ● Proficiency in using technology including Microsoft Office and Google Drive for data tracking, reporting, and communication, and efficient use of the Internet. ● Adept with Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. ● Should be willing to travel to multiple CUNY colleges (locations include Hunter College, Brooklyn College and College of Staten Island) and Central Queens. ● Should be available for occasional evening events.
