POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for creating pipeline construction, permitting, right-of-way and other client deliverables. The pipeline mapping designer will be responsible for completing technical deliverables on the project including, but not limited to, strip maps, alignment sheet drawings, crossing drawings, HDD profiles, permit drawings, land exhibits, construction typical drawings and details, simple piping assembly drawings, and hydrotest plan drawings. Projects range in size and complexity from small utility pipelines and regulator station upgrades to large pipeline projects. This position can influence the growth and success of our pipeline expertise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Position may include full or partial responsibility of the following assignments:

• Provide high quality, leading edge mapping and design work and solutions in the pipeline industry for our clients.
• Perform mapping work to support the pipeline routing and design and the creation of alignment sheets.
• Ability to apply survey, environmental, engineering and ROW data for the creation of alignment sheets.
• Display strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Has the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Drives ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution.
• Has a high ability to work on large projects yet is flexible enough to work on multiple small projects simultaneously.
• Eager and able to learn about new technology and solve complex problems by thinking creatively.
• Work in accordance with the Mapping Design Best Practices.
• Proficient in the use AutoCAD Civil3D and Skyline to create pipeline alignment sheets, horizontal directional drills, landowner exhibits and permit drawings used to acquire ROW, permit and construct pipeline projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum 10 years experience with cross-country transmission pipelines, utility pipelines and associated design requirements.
• Experience with upstream/gathering projects.
• Possesses an understanding of survey project work and data processing and creates the final record as-built drawings for the pipeline after construction is complete.
• Ability to work with and across multiple platforms including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bluesky Skyline, ArcGIS, and associated database formats.
• Displays commitment to quality in all aspects of work.
• Possesses an outgoing and positive attitude, is dependable with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide a high quality of work.

• Uses and promotes the use of existing design data to standardize design efforts from one job to the next.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Director of Pipeline Services

DIRECTION RECEIVED

• Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and project limitations

• Coordination and consulting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to travel and visit site and perform pipeline routing or other pipeline related work.

Long periods of work on a computer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Overtime is sometimes required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Travel will be required for to project sites for durations that could extend to over a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Sr. Designer IV - Experience = 10 years experience; Education = Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education
• Sr. Designer III - Experience = 12 years experience; Education = Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education
• Sr. Designer II - Experience = 14 years experience; Education = Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education
• Sr. Designer I - Experience = 15 years experience; Education = Tech/Trade School/Continuing Education
