Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the Water Treatment and Reclamation (WTR) team is responsible for providing continuous, safe and high quality utilities to our Semiconductor factory (Fab). At our water and wastewater plants on the Samsung Semiconductor campus in Taylor, Texas, our Operations teams’ drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow’s technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff.

The Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) Engineering team is a cohesive group of engineers focused on comprehensively managing, maintaining, supporting, and improving the industrial wastewater reclamation facility in Taylor. As the Technical Lead of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment (IWT) team, in partnership with the Engineering Supervisor, you will:

• Review the technical readiness of engineering deliverables, which include the following:
o Promoting a safe work environment using a process safety mindset
o Monitoring system performance and trend analysis for operational needs
o Troubleshooting operational issues
o Use of peer-reviewed quantitative and qualitative data in technical reports for financial requests, incident reports and executive presentations
o Providing oversight and communication to support the needs of Operations, Maintenance, and third-party owned-and-operated wastewater reclamation facility (WRF)
o Evaluating process requirements and specifications of all wastewater transfer and treatment systems
o Cultivating, sustaining and managing collaboration to ensure site safety, quality of operation, and environmental stewardship
• Provide guidance to personnel, management, and executives on wastewater projects rationalization
• Development of future planning (technical road map) in collaboration with process engineering team
• Lead site drain management program and interface with internal customers throughout the site to represent wastewater treatment objectives in support of site-wide goals
• Mentor and provide technical development opportunities for each member of the IWT team through a collaborative career mapping approach that also support organizational objectives
• Lead innovation in new wastewater treatment technologies and management of emerging contaminants
• Advise the team on prioritization of daily tasks, up through capital investment execution
• Support management reporting needs through data collection, consolidation and analysis
• Foster a team culture that promotes operational excellence, continuous learning, and empowerment
• Advise on succession planning for all IWT Engineer and Project Manager roles, as well as talent acquisition and retention
• Interface with regulatory organizations and utility providers on topics such as waste discharge quality and incoming stream specifications.

Specific Job Duties:

• Technical review of site wastewater drains, and management of drain change control in partnership with Production/Manufacturing and Facilities staff
• Supports team execution and reports work in an organized, systematic and concise method
• Advises Engineering Supervisor on prioritization of team workload
• Collaborates with operational supervisors and third party utility service provider to understand current needs of wastewater systems
• Develops and manages Industry Organization participation for team
• Select industry organizations, conferences and trade shows that would benefit from Samsung representation
• Leads, encourages and enables data driven process improvement focus
• Collaborates with colleagues on initiatives and to support the needs of other teams
• Fosters a collaborative environment within Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams
• Frequent collaboration with Engineering Supervisor to improve the performance of the team
• Coaches and mentors staff to facilitate career development and technical expertise
• Develops and modifies site standards and procedures
Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

Required Education and Experience
• B.S. in Engineering field
• 7 years of experience in water/wastewater operations environment
• 4 years in wastewater treatment, including biological and zero/minimum liquid discharge systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong data analysis skills
• Strong technical background with particular ability to understand, repair, and optimize industrial process systems
• Proficient in Microsoft Windows based applications

Preferred Education and Experience
• Demonstrated experience in leading engineers within a facilities environment
• 8 years of experience in industrial wastewater operations environment
• Computer programming and process modeling experience a plus
• PE license a plus
