Samish Indian Nation is Hiring a Store Manager Near Anacortes, WA

The Store Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the convenience store and overseeing retail operations. The Store Manager must be able to represent the store in a professional and courteous manner.

Principle Duties

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to garner trust and respect.
  • Supervise and train all employees to achieve their maximum potential.
  • Monitors and oversees pricing and inventory, including fuel, tobacco, and other retail products.
  • Set the expectation and maintain the physical appearance and cleanliness of the store and entire surrounding property.
  • Creates, educates and enables the staff to perform all standard operating procedures.
  • Will be responsible for the store’s financial accountability, including driving revenue, managing expenses, and setting and achieving budgets.
  • This is not a remote position; the manager is expected to be onsite during their scheduled shift.

Minor Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Train staff in how to use the operational software for both front of the house POS (Gilbarco Passport) as well as back of the house (SSCS).
  • Analyze transactions and results daily to capitalize on product movement and product pricing. Review operational reports and records to ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures, monitors store profitability, and manage payroll.
  • Ensure that all supervisors are present and communicating with their cashiers and support staff. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of team members. Ensuring the hiring of employees who demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Ensure that the highest quality service is delivered to each customer; Address customer needs by immediately resolving request, inspiring long-term customer relationships.
  • Sets the expectation and ensures that cash handling follows proper protocols.
  • Participate in the sourcing of products, developing creative methods of displaying and merchandising products.
  • Create and implement marketing campaigns within the store or by working with the vendors.
Required Qualifications
  • College degree a plus.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have at least seven years of supervisor experience.
  • Must have strong verbal and communication skills.
  • Must have experience in cash handling.
  • Strong accounting skills.

Working Conditions

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs; long periods of standing (90% of time), sit (10% of time), as well as frequently stoop, squat, lift, kneel, bend, and reach (30% of time); possess manual dexterity sufficient to use hand writing materials, computers, and office equipment to prepare reports and documentation; be physically able to move through building. Mental/Visual Demands: Tasks involve eye-hand coordination; cash handling. Working Environment: Mainly indoors with heat and some air conditioning. Must be able to move around for majority of shift. Unavoidable hazards/risks: Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases. Protective clothing or equipment may be required (goggles, gloves, masks, boots, etc.)
