Summary & Key Responsibilities Responsible for profit and growth for a specific state assignment and takes an active role in formulating and implementing state strategies through increased analysis and focus on competitor behaviors including product and pricing strategies, marketplace dynamics, pricing segmentation and account level analysis. Must work collaboratively with the Product Management team as well with representatives from Product Development, Actuarial, Field Sales, Underwriting, Claims and IT to accomplish goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities Serves as conduit among Product Consultants, State Regulatory Analysts, Actuarial, and others to maintain and manage version control on all commercial insurance materials (rates, rules, coverage forms, other forms, underwriting guides, etc.) on one line of business. Supports the Product Consultants in the day-to-day management of the commercial insurance product portfolio and is directly responsible for “materials management,” ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of all commercial insurance materials (E.g. manuals, exception pages, forms, underwriting guides, IRR Pages, etc.) for filing and publication in direct support of Business Requirements Documents. Prepares all materials for filing per Business Requirements Document (I.e. comparisons, forms changes, rule changes, etc.). Assists Product Consultants with basic research for development of new products, in all State Auto market sectors and states of operation, in order to facilitate product and form changes across the enterprise. Minimum Experience/Education Two years' experience in commercial property-casualty insurance required Associate degree in a business-related field, or a combination of experience and training deemed to be the equivalent. Completion of the IIA General Insurance (INS) program or other recognized and relevant industry course is preferred. Requires a solid understanding of business insurance pricing principles, manual rules, policy forms, and underwriting guidelines and how these components contribute to positive corporate underwriting results. Requires a solid understanding of business insurance workflow, including how policies are entered and processed. Proficiency in word processing, database software, and the creation of spreadsheets is critical for success in the position. Communication and Collaboration Skills Excellent business writing skills are necessary in order to communicate precisely and effectively with other State Auto associates, regulatory bodies, reinsurers, and other outside entities. Above-average verbal communication skills are necessary in order to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies. Problem Solving Must be able to accurately resolve materials versioning conflicts, interpret written requirements, and translate them into action items. Must be able to make judgments based upon previous experiences and factual information and recognize when and to whom to escalate issues for resolution.
