**Description**

**Corps/Department:** Grand Junction

**Reports to:** Thrift Operations Director and/or Commanding Officers

**FLSA Status:** Part time (28 hrs/wk) non-exempt

**Scope of Position:** This position will assist the full time driver in picking up donations from homes and businesses in Mesa, Delta, and Montrose counties. Will also assist in thrift stores, hauling scrap and trash to the dump and or recycle areas. Will assist in thrift stores as needed.

**Essential Functions:** Will assist the full time driver in picking up furniture donations. Will unload donations at the stores. Will also assist in thrift stores as needed, with donors and customers, loading and unloading merchandise. Will call donors to inform them of pick-up times, and to advise them of late/rescheduled times. Will assist with keeping all stores organized and clean at all times, including exterior and alleyways. Will be familiar with all aspects and procedures of thrift store operations. Will assist with general maintenance of trucks daily, checking tires, oil pressure, keeping interior and exterior of the vehicles clean. Will be able to address/answer donors and customers questions and concerns, acting as a personal representative of The Salvation Army, supporting its mission. Will treat all customers/donors with courtesy and respect. Will perform other duties as assigned or directed by the Thrift Operations Director and/or the Commanding Officers.

**Education and Work Experience:** Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have a current valid Colorado drivers license**.** Must be able to successfully complete a background check including clean driving record. Bilingual a plus.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:** Must be able to read a map and take/give good directions. Must have the ability to learn the concepts involved with serving low-income individuals and families. Must have a positive attitude and the ability to be flexible with changing job priorities/situations. Must work well with other staff members, volunteers, and community service workers. Will be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

**Software-related skills:** Microsoft Word and Excel required, Microsoft Outlook, working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

**Physical** **Requirements:** Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull, and reach overhead. Ability to operate telephone. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds repeatedly. Ability to access and produce information from the computer. Ability to understand written information. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
