The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Lead Lifeguard for the MS Gulf Coast Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located in Biloxi, Mississippi. Job Summary: Serves as lead worker to Lifeguards in the absence of the supervisor; assists in training new staff on applicable policies and procedures; handles water emergencies and escalated customer service-related issues. Serves as a lifeguard for all pool operations; provides constant surveillance of pool activities. Teaches water exercise and swimming lesson classes. Performs other related work as required. which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of life saving techniques. Ability to supervise swimmers and provide constant surveillance of pool activities in order to ensure swimmer safety and to respond to emergency rescue when needed. Ability to perform live saving techniques, C.P.R. and first aid procedures in emergency situations. Ability to enforce all pool rules. Ability to organize and lead swimming lessons. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or G.E.D., and two years experience working as a lifeguard, teaching swimming lessons, with some experience in a supervisory role, or any equivalent combination of training and experience Licenses and Certifications: Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor Red Cross Certified Lifeguard C.P.R. and First Aid Certification (upon hire) Instructor Certification Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language Work is performed in an indoor pool environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
