Description
Reporting directly to the Director of Fund Development & Communications, and in alignment with Salud’s strategic plan, the FUND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR provides overall project management to the organization’s efforts to obtain financial and other support to sustain SPLG’s work, including institutional and individual donors, federal, state and local government, foundations, and corporations. This includes identifying new partners and maintaining key relationships and contacts within and outside of SPLG’s service area to ensure meeting revenue goals. The FUND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR will also manage and implement Salud’s donor relations and stewardship system to secure funds in alignment with the organization’s strategic priorities.
The FUND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing the life cycle of grant proposal/reports that support agency goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria, as well as managing the cultivation and stewardship of institutional and individual donors. This position serves as the primary grant writer, manages funder relationships, funder compliance reporting, leads individual donor development strategies, and supports special project initiatives. This position supports the organization's mission, vision, and values through excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, commitment to our community, and accountability and ownership.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Consistently adhere to and/or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners.
2. Communicate effectively by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language. Listen skillfully and display a willingness and ability to acknowledge patient and co-workers’ needs, expectations and values through the use of reflective listening and empathy conveyance. Respond to co-worker and patient needs in ways that are helpful and beyond expectation.
3. Work with Director of Fund Development & Communications to create and implement annual fund development plan and strategy for successful outcomes.
4. Conduct new funding research, proposal writing, including budget preparation and identify reporting requirements for all government, foundation and corporate funders; work with Director of Fund Development & Communications and other Executive staff to identify funding opportunities.
5. Provide guidance on policies and procedures in grants management and compliance with funder policies
6. Manage SPLG’s donor program and donor database systems; review and implement adjustments to current processes and database management, cultivate and grow donor base in alignment with organizational priorities; manage content and implementation of SPLG’s annual giving campaign in coordination with Associate Director of PR and Communications, and cultivate major gifts, manage and execute special campaigns, including capital and other opportunities.
7. Supervise and write/support timely written submission of grant proposals to government, corporate and foundation funders by working closely with department staff, program staff and providers on proposals and collecting key content based on grant application requirements, including preparing application budgets and attachments.
8. Manage and prepare grant-funded program budgets pre- and post-award to ensure compliance with funder requirements and work with department staff and Finance to manage processes for tracking expenses and allocations accurately from post-award to close out.
9. Manage all funder submission portals including grants.gov, sam.gov and HRSA’s EHB platform.
10. Manage grant management database ensuring it is maintained and up to date and utilized to run monthly reports tracking all active grants and reporting/compliance requirements and close out requirements.
11. Work with cross-department staff to support grants, fundraising, communications and public relations, special events, and other efforts.
12. Provide grants management and development support for organizational subsidiary as directed
13. Provide supervisory duties as needed and as department grows.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
