Position Title: Accounting Manager

Pay: Starting at $65,000/ year based on experience

Department: Accounting

Reports to: Controller

Status: Full-time, Salaried position

Position Summary:

The Accounting Manager will have hands-on accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, this position will perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses. This position maintains and controls General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. They support the Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting Department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist the Controller with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/Finance Department including budget review and analysis
• Interact, manage and mentor other members of the accounting team; including but not limited to Sales Tax, General, Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
• Maintain and manage accounting policies and procedures
• Responsible for accuracy and timely reporting of multi-entity financials, managing process of preparation and presenting monthly to internal executives
• Prepares (as needed) and reviews account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of all accounts and providing solutions and guidance for unreconciled items; Includes accounts ranging from, but not limited to; payables, receivables, banking, fixed asset management, sales, cogs, payroll and inventory
• Manage banking and merchant service (credit card) accounts and relationships ensuring accounts for all companies are reconciled and balanced timely
• Prepare and analyze the monthly budget/forecast to actual variance reports documenting variances
• Responsible for accuracy of all monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings; including but not limited to sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, income tax and other local, state and federal government requirements
• Strong proficiency with the company’s ERP software
• Handle confidential material relevant to company operations
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all SSG employees, customers, and vendors
• Perform other related duties as necessary

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must demonstrate an ability to interpret and apply accounting principles and effectively work with various departments within the company on cross-functional activities.

Other Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
• CPA license and public accounting experience preferred
• Five to seven years progressively responsible experience in accounting functions
• Minimum three to five years’ experience in accounting management
• Experience with multi-entity financial statement consolidation
• Prepare documents necessary to satisfy year-end audit and tax engagements
• Experience in payroll preparation, reconciliation and reporting
• Strong analytical, accounting and problem solving skills
• Excellent in Microsoft office suite, specifically excel with experience using pivot tables and complex excel formulas
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty and with different levels of employees
• Ability to work in fast growing changing environment, meeting a constant stream of deadlines
• Meticulous attention to detail and organization, with ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work
• Strong technical aptitude to learn and troubleshoot new software systems and technologies with ability to collaborate with departments on testing, rollout and implementation
• Strong sense of responsibility, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines
• Self-starter who will take the initiative with process improvements and moving projects forward
• Customer service focused; always willing to assist where needed, servant mentality
• Background and credit checks will be required
