Purpose Statement:The job of the Student Support worker is to facilitate small group learning throughout the day for at risk students in conjunction with two other Instructional Assistants. The Student Support worker will communicate with families of students on their case load and provide social and emotional supports in conjunction with the school Social Worker.
Supervisor: Building Principal
Primary Responsibilities:Faciliate small group learning for at-risk students for each period of the school day.
Communicate student assignments with classroom teachers and work completetion to classroom teachers.
Supervise two Instructional Assistants and create schedules and student case loads for those students.
Attend teacher Interdisciplinary team meetings as necessary.
Communicate regularly with parents and families of students on case load.
Work in conjunction with the school Social Worker to identify social and emotional needs of students on case load and provide supports as needed.
Participates as an active member of the student improvement team meetings working collaboratively with families and other staff to develop plans for student success.
Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering first aid.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: behavior and crisis management techniques
ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited.
