    Job Description
    Title: Early Childhood Special Education Instructional Coach
    Reports To: Building Principal and Coordinator of Special Education
    Evaluation: As per Negotiated Agreement for teacher evaluations
    Qualifications: Licensure/Endorsement for Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Handicapped or Early Childhood Unified preferred. We will also entertain related endorsements if combined with appropriate experience.
    Experience: Prefer at least three years as a special education teacher, working extensively with preschool students with disabilities, case management of IEP’s, working in integrated preschool programs and/or working as a consulting teacher.
    The Central Kansas Cooperative in Education partners together with a multitude of private and public schools and agencies to provide services to children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment alongside typically developing Pre-K students. In an effort to improve our service delivery and support our staff, we are seeking an ECSE instructional coach. This person will work with staff and provide training to ensure all children’s needs are met and ensure the appropriate provision of special education services and support through case management, inclusion facilitation, oversight of curriculum and assessment implementation and will monitor best practices across all sites. The ECSE instructional coach will assist educational teams in assessment, evaluation, the development of IEP’s when applicable and will advise on appropriate and necessary modifications and accommodations to meet student needs. In addition, this person will be familiar with and will work with classroom staff to implement general education curriculum and the early learning standards for students with disabilities with fidelity.
    Performance Responsibilities:
    • Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work as part of multiple school teams.
    • Ability to coach and mentor teachers and paras on issues related to inclusion of students with disabilities, appropriate implementation of the general education curriculum, and application of the Kansas Early Learning Standards.
    • Assist in designing an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for students with disabilities. May provide direct instruction and services for pupils and assume responsibility for contacting and consulting with parents and the IEP team.
    • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals in harmony with the IEP goals; will work with classroom staff to establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc utilizing the general curriculum.
    • Will provide oversight and implementation of a curriculum based assessments
    • Will follow and adhere to the federal, state and local statutes, regulations and standards based on program type
    • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
    • Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
    • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
    • Diagnose the needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by the teacher's contract, negotiated agreement, Board of Education policy, administrative regulation, and laws of the state of Kansas.
    • Make provision for being available to school staff, students and parents for education-related purposes when required or requested at mutually agreeable times.
    • May be involved in planning and supervision of purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteer(s),and evaluate their performances.
    • Work cooperatively with staff on various tasks and/or assignments.
    • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
    • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
    Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as
    needed in the work environment which may include frequent lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling and getting up and down from the floor.
