Salina Family YMCA is Hiring a Membership Services - Part-Time Near Salina, KS

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Membership Services I position is the first interaction with the members and guests. This position serves members and guests, answers the telephone, sells programs & memberships, answers questions, and performs various clerical duties.
This person must have a positive attitude, be able to build relationships with people in a friendly and consistent manner, and support and portray the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Member Engagement
    • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and being approachable while consistently demonstrating professional conduct.
    • Know and use members’ names and initiate interaction with and between members.
    • Make members and guests feel comfortable and show interest by listening & addressing concerns and suggestions promptly.
    • Encourage and invite members to participate in programs and facilities and ask “satisfaction questions” about their experience.
    • Serve as a liaison between members and program supervisors.
  • Clerical Tasks
    • Answer phones and in-person questions by providing information on facility services and programs and be knowledgeable and up to date on the latest information on the facility and programs.
    • Accurately process paperwork, registrations, and receipt of money transactions.
    • Actively complete assigned tasks to improve engagement, sales, membership, and participant experience.
  • General
    • Performs general cleaning duties in the membership area that may include, but are not limited to, sweeping floor, vacuuming rugs, wiping counters, and completing laundry.
    • All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience working with people.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with children, employees, and guests.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work with people through excellent written and oral communication skills, problem-solving expertise, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must possess computer skills necessary to help assist staff and members.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting deadlines.
  • Use good judgment and discretion within the department and assignments.
  • Certifications: CPR, First Aid, within 60 days of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and judgment skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
  • Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, and identify noises of distress.
  • Ability to handle irate, complaining, or demanding individuals without internalizing or personalizing comments made.
  • Make sound judgments and decisions, even when noise or activity distracts.
  • Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods.
  • Work in different temperature environments.
