Job Description

We are looking for an outreach assistant in the space of Public Relations, Media Communications, and Marketing. In this role, you would pitch to companies, journalists, writers, podcast hosts, conferences, and editors to get organic media features and land new clientele. This role includes organizing media contacts from an already existing database, researching and gathering contacts from companies to reach out to for new business, editing email templates, sending emails, and being extremely organized and diligent in following up on social media and via social media DMs. This is a very important part of our team as this directly impacts our brand exposure, value, and credibility.

Part-time Job or Paid Internship (interning option is for students only)

$10.00 - $15.00 per hour

Details about this role:

This is a fully remote, 20 hours/week role that is a high-growth position, eligible for bonuses—> Ideally, this person would work up to full time around 30-40 hours/week after an initial trial period of 6 months.

  • Guaranteed base hours and minimum pay of 20 hours per week at $10.00-$15.00 per hour USD/hourly, depending on experience.
  • Pay is subject to increase depending on the performance.
  • Communications/outreach experience required

REQUIRED

  • REQUIRED: Fluent English, strong communication and copywriting skills, and excellent writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence. Strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Great follow-up skills.
  • Values taking quick action and responding in a short time window.
  • Detail-oriented: strong proofreader, pays attention to every detail, has excellent self-editing skills, productive because you understand the beneficial effect of pausing, reflecting, and checking your work for accuracy, thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and meticulousness.
  • Persistent personality. Consistently positive attitude.
  • Enjoys getting to a YES
  • Does not get defeated when there is no response
  • Understands how to research and engage with people on social media. Social media savvy and strong social skills.
  • Must be good at research and finding new opportunities and contacts.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND BACKGROUND

  • ex. Google sheets/excel
  • Previous experience with working with female founders and online businesses
  • Have or working towards a communications, public relations, marketing, English, business, or journalism degree.

To produce results for this role, your responsibilities include:

  • Organize journalists, podcasts host, conferences, and business owners by niche, industry, outlets, etc
  • Email 20-50 journalists, podcasts, conferences, businesses, and design publications a week and follow up on social media
  • Connect and engage with podcasts, shows, publications, conferences, tradeshows, and industry events to land speaking engagements, features or interviews
  • Send our work to design publications, blogs, and awards for features and competitions.
  • Refresh subject lines and body copy by monitoring open rates
  • Work on new angles and seasonal pitches every month/quarter to stay relevant (refer to the monthly pitching ideas calendar)
  • Email a pitch template (needs slight adjustment for every new contact)
  • Keep track of contacts emailed to follow up regularly
  • Relationship Building: Connect and engage with journalists, companies, podcast hosts, design pages, and conferences on social media platforms like IG, LI, Twitter
  • Schedule and post our latest content on Instagram

The success of this role will be measured carefully by the data that we track. For example, success could be measured by:

  • Email Open Rate
  • #1 convos started with journalists (building connections on email, LinkedIn, Instagram, or whatever social platform they use)
  • Successful features, interviews and speaking engagements
  • Customer/Client Conversion Rate
